Panel - Building a Brand That Converts

We had the pleasure of connecting with Alexandra to ask a few questions!

What does diversity, equity, and professional inclusion mean to you?
Diversity and inclusion empowers people by respecting, appreciating and celebrating peoples difference. Those differences add so much beauty and knowledge to the world.

How have you experienced and/or dealt with adversity in your professional and personal life?
Yes. Many times. Establishing clear boundaries help me navigate adversity.

What would be one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
Embrace the failure. It will lay the groundwork for your greatest achievements.

Name three things that you do everyday to help lead you to success.
1. Take time each morning for me (maybe a workout, a walk with my Frenchie, or a conversation with my mom).

2. Work off of a calendar and schedule vs. my endless inbox.

3. Check-in and communicate with my team daily to make sure everyone is doing ok.

How did you "decide" to do what you do professionally? Can you share a bit about the path you took or the journey to where you are today?
For me, there was no “aha” moment behind launching my business, ALX. It happened over a series of small decisions. The first, that I did not want to be an employee and work within someone else's box! I rebelled against the idea of conformity professionally and that led me to start my own hustle. This way, I could create my own rules for success and creativity as a photographer and Creative Director. The second, I wanted to find a solution for small businesses who needed consistency in their brand identity but couldn’t afford expensive agencies. And the third, to create a space for artists to support their trade. As a young artist I realized early on that I had a unique set of skills both left and right brained, that others may not have had. I believed many of my peers were better artists then I was, yet couldn't pursue their passion with the limited entrepreneurial skills they had. So, I started hiring my peers and selling it as a service. Learning, growing and supporting the people I respected as artists and passionate creatives.

Who inspires your professional ambition? Why?
The many fearless female leaders in my network. People like Michael Donnelly (FWD’s Founder).

What is your favorite book? Or the one you'd recommend most?
That is always changing. Right now especially in COVID, Practicing The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle takes a front seat.

What are the top 3 things you'd like us to know about your business or company?
1. ALX is a Digital Media Collective specializing in branding and web development.

2. Digital Media is dimensional, so we bring together a highly integrated team of specialists who deeply understand the many layers to running a successful brand online. From the visual side to the verbal side. From the paid side to the organic side. And, everything in between!

3. We are driven by creativity. Informed by data and develop everything we do with love.

Anything else you'd like to highlight or think we should know?
I lead with love and vulnerability. It works!
